Instruction is given on functional handgun skills from zero to five feet\, a unique problem requiring an interdisciplinary approach. Provided is a template for what we feel are the best practices between verbal and physical skills to avoid\, stabilize\, and resolve a life-threatening situation within the context of the criminal assault paradigm while armed. After developing new skills\, everyone validates the skills through an unscripted evolution. Evolutions are competitive\, non-consensual force-on-force experiences using marking cartridges and protective equipment.\nYou do not need any martial arts or combative experience to attend this course. You only need the ability to safely deploy your handgun from the holster.\n**The first four hours of day two and three are live fire training. You can train from concealment or overtly outside the waistband; neither choice will impact the quality of your training experience. You must be able to safely and competently deploy/shoot/manipulate your firearm. This is not a pistol 101 course\, and a lack of basic weapons handling skills will result in you being asked to step off the firing line. **\nPlease bring the following items with you to class:\n\nQuality holster\nHandgun\, 220 rounds of ammunition\nSafety glass\, ear protection\nComfortable clothes\nMouthpiece and cup\n\nAll times are local for the training location. \nThere is a $75.00 range fee for the weekend\, due in cash on Friday evening. SUMMARY:Presscheck Consulting - Chuck Pressburg - Precision Performance
DESCRIPTION:Precision Performance Pistol course is a one-day\, intermediate to advanced course only available to graduates of No Fail Pistol or Hostage Rescue Handgun.  \n \nPrecision Performance dedicates a full training day to focus on the more practical application of precision shooting. The curriculum consists of drills and stages which are mostly shot on steel\, when available\, and focus on Target to Target transitions\, High difficulty/High Consequence/low percentage precision shots on the move\, and throttle control on practical targets like a Bianchi plate rack.  \n \nPrecision Performance attempts to maintain the same high degree of accountability as No Fail Pistol and Hostage Rescue Handgun\, but in a more relaxed setting of peer-reviewed friendly competition to force the shooter to remain constantly aware of hit probability\, while executing at speed.  \n \nDifferent scoring systems will be utilized to expose our tendency to shoot a pace instead of what the gun is telling us.  Scoring penalties for missing\, coupled with distance and shot difficulty\, ensure that you cannot miss fast enough to win.  \n \n Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of No Fail Pistol or Hostage Rescue Handgun. DO NOT register for this class if you have not completed No Fail Pistol or Hostage Rescue Handgun. You may register for this course if you are also attending No Fail Pistol the same weekend as Precision Performance. If you register\, and will not have taken No Fail Pistol prior to course\, you will not be able to attend and NO refund will be issued. \n \nRange Fee – Bring cash \n\n\nThere is a $30/student/day range fee ($30 total for this course) \n\n\n \nHost POC:  Bill Armstrong bill.armstrong@meadhallrange.com \n \nAbout Cancellations/Refunds. SUMMARY:Pistol-training.com Simon Golob On Demand Performance
DESCRIPTION:Pistol-Training.com’s On-Demand Performance (ODP) is a 2-day class that focuses equally on technical excellence and cold performance\n\n\n\nPistol-Training.com’s flagship course\, On-Demand Performance (ODP) is a 2-day class that focuses equally on technical excellence and cold performance. Cold performance is performance without any kind of warmup and is the only kind of performance that matters for most law enforcement and civilians. ODP offers daily/weekly/monthly training practices to build your cold ability and allow you to perform as well as possible. Students are tested to determine their current ability\, and training is tailored to individual needs. The prerequisites for the class include the ability to draw and re-holster safely and students must pass a pre-test of five shots on a 3×5 card at 5 yards\, with no time limit. The course requires a minimum of 1000 rounds of quality training ammo for your pistol and 4 magazines. Red dots or irons are equally welcome. Holsters may be duty holsters\, IWB or OWB\, strong-side or appendix however\, unconcealed gun/holster combos are highly discouraged. Students also have the opportunity to test for the FAST coin if they wish. \nRequirements: \n\nMentally and physically sound\n\n\n1000 rounds (minimum)\n\n\nConcealed pistol/holster (9mm or larger unless discussed in advance)\n\n\n4 magazines and 1 magazine pouch (minimum)\n\n\nAbility to draw and reholster safely as well as hit a 3×5 card at 5 yards every time\n\n\nWeather-appropriate clothing and comfort/sustainment items\n\n\nCompleted waiver\n\nFAQ: \nQ: If I bring more than 1000 rounds of ammo will I be able to shoot more? \nA: Yes! Some drills allow for more flexibility than others but much of the shooting will be at your own pace. Which also means that some people will shoot a little less than others. \nQ: Why do you prefer to train with concealed guns instead of open carry holsters? \nA: Anyone who is serious about carrying a pistol must be able to shoot effectively from concealment. Training from concealment strongly carries over to open carry\, but the opposite is simply not true. \nQ: If I can’t meet the prerequisites what will happen? \nA: If you are unsafe\, you will be unable to continue training. Safety requirements will be clearly laid out at the beginning of the day and you will have the chance to practice them. If you can’t hit a 3×5 card at 5 yards\, you don’t yet have the skill needed to take advantage of this training. You are welcome to stay and shoot\, but we will not take class time away from the students who do meet the requirements in order to try and get you up to speed. A second attempt to pass the test may be given as appropriate.

SUMMARY:Pistoltraining.com On Demand Performance Tactics
DESCRIPTION:In this 1 day class you will learn how to safely and correction negotiate the common environments that an individual might have to defend.\n\n\n\nShooting well is important but it is only part of the equation. In this 1 day class\, you will learn how to safely and correctly negotiate the most common environments including streets\, buildings\, and vehicles. Individual tactics are the cornerstone of the concealed carrier\, police officer\, detective\, investigator and even SWAT operator\, but most academies and schools focus only on team tactics these days. Topics covered in this course include proper use of cover\, one person clearing techniques\, as well as interior and exterior vehicle tactics. Much of the class will be live fire but where it makes more sense\, we will use inert guns. Video coaching to accelerate learning may be used as well. Whether you are protecting your home or working singleton operations\, this is the course for people who realize that winning is what matters\, not just surviving. \nRequirements: \n• Mentally and physically sound \n• Modern eye and ear protection. ANSI Z87.1 rated. Plugs alone are not ideal and electronic ears are highly recommended. \n• Hat with a brim \n• 500 rounds \n• Concealed pistol/holster (duty grade 9mm or larger recommended unless discussed in advance) \n• 4 magazines and 1 magazine pouch (minimum) \n• Ability to draw and re-holster safely as well as hit a 3×5 card slow fire at 5 yards on demand \n• Weather-appropriate clothing and comfort/sustainment items \n• Any tools or batteries needed to service your pistol/optic/holster \n• Inert training gun copy of your carry gun. Some will be available to borrow but may not be the same as yours. \n• Completed waiver

SUMMARY:Citizens Safety Academy - CSA Gateway Instructor Certification
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\nThis course teaches experienced shooters how to teach a basic defense-oriented pistol curriculum in the paradigm of “gateway instruction” developed by Citizens Safety Academy. \nCourse Details\nThere are many instructor certification courses available\, but most suffer from at least one of three common shortcomings. First\, they often spend too much time on shooting and not enough time on teaching how to teach. Second\, they often focus on teaching intermediate-level shooters without enough attention paid to the nuances of managing a class full of brand-new\, first-time shooters. Third\, many instructor courses tend to ignore the cultural and demographic dynamics of today’s market of firearms trainees. \nWith the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, and others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. CSA developed what we call the “gateway” instructional model in an effort to fill those gaps in the training community. \nInstructor candidates will learn and demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course (including leading a line of live-fire shooters through a course of fire). Candidates will also have to pass an instructor certification examination and a shooting qualification course of fire. The course also includes an Instructor’s Guide that participants can take home with them for future reference. \nTopics Covered\nEvery class is a little different\, so we often have to make adjustments based on time and facility constraints; but our standard Gateway Instructor curriculum includes the following: \n\nAdult learning theory\nEffective communication skills / public speaking\nDepoliticizing instruction\, content\, and facilities\nDesigning and using effective training aids\nConnecting with inexperienced\, fearful\, and non-traditional students\nMaking classroom lectures interactive and engaging\nEffective use of multi-media in the modern classroom\nConcepts from the pivotal text\, “Telling Ain’t Training\,” by Keeps and Stolovitch\nClassroom management\nRange management\nTeaching basic principles of lawful defensive force\nManaging students with past trauma or emotional triggers\nEffective assessment / written examination design\nHow to control and command a firing line\nThe “Less is More” principle\nEffective range commands\nStudent-centric range exercises\nDifferentiating between skill drills and performance drills\nManaging students with physical limitations or disabilities\nTeaching both left- and right-handed students\nManaging firing lines with revolvers and semi-autos of different action types\nEffective use of assistant instructors\nSafety protocols and emergency procedures\nAnd much more!\n\nPrerequisites\nInstructor candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Candidates will be required to demonstrate how to safely handle\, load\, and unload both a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol. \nWhat is “gateway instruction”?\nWhen we say “gateway instruction\,” we mean true entry-level content\, designed for students who overcome boundaries\, obstacles\, social disincentives\, or other adverse odds to learn to shoot for the first time. We have found that many “beginner” classes on the market today are often weighed down by assumptions and misperceptions about what new shooters typically bring to the table. These classes often take for granted that every student has the same opinion about guns\, everyone has the same understanding of gun safety\, and everyone generally understands how guns work and what they’re used for. But that’s not the case. \nAt CSA\, we take a different approach. Gateway instruction levels the playing field by allowing all students to enter the firearms training world without any pressure to know more than they know or to be someone other than who they are. One of the many benefits of this teaching technique (and the reason we call it “gateway instruction”) is that it increases the chances of students investing in more training and becoming members of the training community rather than just visitors or sightseers. We hope to be an “on-ramp” for those who might otherwise see themselves as outsiders to the gun world.

SUMMARY:Tactical Anatomy Systems - Shooting with Xray Vision Instructor course
DESCRIPTION:Shooting WIth Xray Vision – Instructor is not just another shooting class.  It is a true instructor class\, designed by instructors for experienced instructors. Your instructors\, Dr. James Williams and Chuck Haggard\, are nationally recognized teachers who have over half a century of teaching experience between them.  This class is designed to give the instructor-student new tools to use in his or her own classes after you leave. \nDr. Williams has been an ER\, ICU\, and trauma physician for the past 35 years. He served as a police medical officer and SWAT team medic in Wisconsin until 2011\, and has been instructing the Tactical Anatomy curriculum since 2004. He was a regular instructor at ILEETA and IALEFI for many years\, and was keynote speaker for the IALEFI international conference in 2009.  He has been conducting SXRV-Instructor on an occasional basis since 2004\, generally reserving it for law enforcement groups only until 2011\, when he opened it to non-sworn personnel. The class was not held from 2014 until 2022\, but because of persistent demand Dr. Williams has revived and revitalized the course for modern instructors. \nDr. Williams has plans to retire from medical practice by 2028\, and will likely retire from active teaching then as well.  As such\, the 2026 class will probably be the second-last Shooting With Xray Vision class. \nChuck Haggard retired from active police work several years ago but returned to it almost immediately and continues as an active cop today. He has been teaching firearms and tactics from his vast experience in the field for over 25 years.  Chuck is particularly well known for his work in teaching terminal ballistics and evaluating effectiveness of specific ammunition exemplars. He has been recognized for his instructional excellence by several national organizations. He has been one of the SXRV-I instructors since we revived the course in 2022 and we are delighted to have him back again this year. \nAttendees will be exposed to a vast body of knowledge that the instructors have studied for many years. Topics to be covered in the class include the historical context of this field; the realities of gunfights and other armed conflicts; practical ballistics\, including external and terminal ballistics; medical realities of human anatomy and physiology;  gunshot wounds/wounding and incapacitation; modeling of 3-dimensional anatomy in time and space; adult learning realities; instructional tips and tricks for teaching realistic ballistic targeting to students. \nAttendees should expect this to be an actual 16-hour class. You will be challenged to learn as you have rarely been challenged before.

SUMMARY:Immediate Action Combatives - Cecil Burch - Grappling for Self- Defense in a Weapons Based Environment
DESCRIPTION:I \nReal World Application of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu\, Wrestling\, and Boxing in a Weapon-Based-Environment (WBE) \nContrary to popular belief\, many empty hand fights and those involving weapons\, end up entangled\, either standing or on the ground. No amount of pontificating or self-proclaimed “expert” posturing will change this simple fact. If you ignore this reality\, you may very well find yourself in a situation you cannot handle with disastrous consequences. This course is designed to give the layman a realistic and functional set of concepts\, techniques\, methodologies\, training drills and experiences that will prepare them for a worst case grappling scenario. All techniques and concepts are high percentile applications which span a wide spectrum of confrontations. Training consists of presentation\, drilling and Force-On-Force evolutions providing attendees with immediate feedback regarding the efficacy of the skills learned. The goal of this course is not to create a “ground fighter” or grappler. The objective is to provide attendees who have limited training time and resources with solid ground survival and escape fundamentals geared toward the increasingly violent weapon based environments they may live\, work and/or travel within. And all techniques/concepts are from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu\, Wrestling\, and Boxing and are combat proven over the past 80 years by thousands and thousands of practitioners\, including the U.S. Army. \n• These methods are for everyone regardless of physical condition – young\, old\, male\, female\, athlete or not – You DO NOT have to be a professional fighter to perform at a functional level. This will be a class about physical training\, but it is NOT boot camp. Participants may go at the pace that is comfortable for them\, while trying to push the envelope of their own individual performance.\n• Requirements: loose\, comfortable but durable clothes\, mouthpiece\, cup\, notebook\, and an open mind. Boxing or MMA gloves are strongly encouraged\, but are not mandatory. Blue Guns and matched holsters\, and training knives are a good idea\, but there will be loaners available. \nSurviving/defending/escaping from the bottom\nGetting back to your feet / staying upright\nDefending against strikes on the ground or clinch\nDenying the attacker weapon access – understanding technique\, positional hierarchy\, and timing\nProper role of “dirty tactics”\nMultiple opponents\nEssential training principles\, methods\, and drills\nUnderlying concepts and mindset for the clinch in a self-defense context\nDealing with the sucker punch/ambush\nFundamentals of the clinch\nControlling the entanglement\nDisengaging and making distance for escape\, weapons access or orientation reset\nPerformance coaching and troubleshooting\nStructuring and balancing your training for a real world lifestyle \nAbout Cecil Burch \nCecil Burch has been training functional Martial Arts for over forty years.
