DESCRIPTION:This class focuses on applying your existing handgun skills in a low-light environment\, utilizing both handheld and weapon-mounted lights. \n \nTOPICS COVERED \n \n\n\nSelection of handheld and weapon-mounted lights; \n\n\nHow to manipulate and activate your lights; \n\n\nIntegrating lights with your handgun from ready positions and your holster; \n\n\nTransitioning from a hand-held to a weapon-mounted light; \n\n\nWorking with lights around cover; \n\n\nJudgment and decision-making will also be addressed. \n \n\n\nEXPECTATIONS AND OUTCOMES \nBy the session’s end\, you will be able to utilize your handheld and weapon-mounted lights more effectively for navigation\, identification\, communication\, and engagement\, with an emphasis on informed decision-making.  \n \nABILITY REQUIREMENTS \nExperience applying the Four Safety Rules practically while working with your firearm\, ensuring you do not endanger your neighbor. You must be able to draw your handgun from the holster as well as loading\, unload\, and clear any common stoppages. Be comfortable working from multiple ready positions.  \n  \nEQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS \n\n\nNote-taking material \n\n\nClear eye/safety glasses and electronic ear protection \n\n\nA reliable mid to full-size pistol  \n\n\nAppropriate belt\, holster\, and mag pouches \n\n\nMinimum of a handheld defensive/duty light and a weapon-mounted light is also suggested; \n\n\n3 magazines \n\n\nExtra batteries for all lights and optics \n\n\nPlease bring your snacks\, caffeine\, and\, of course\, water. DESCRIPTION:This one-day class takes your existing handgun skills and combines them with visual processing and decision making to solve a variety of Don’t Shoot/Shoot problems. You will be exposed to a variety of targets and stimulus.  \n \nABILITY REQUIREMENTS \nExperience with your pistol-mounted optic\, including acquiring your sights\, delivering an accurate hit under time constraints\, and accuracy sufficient to shoot Dyal’s 5 Yard Round-Up clean with a 4-second par time for each stage.  \nAdditionally\, the completion of a defensive handgun class that includes holster work/reloads/stoppages\, as well as an understanding of how to practically apply the 4 Safety Rules\, specifically Rule #3\, without endangering a neighboring shooter.  \n \nTOPICS COVERED \nAfter a classroom discussion on human factors and a warm-up\, the class will begin working through a variety of drills to cover the subject matter. These will include: \n\n\nincreasing breadth and depth of vision; \n\n\nvisual attention; \n\n\nresponse to stimulus;  \n\n\ncognitive load;  \n \n\n\nEXPECTATIONS AND OUTCOMES \nBy the day’s end\, you will have applied your decision-making and shooting skills to solving Don’t Shoot/Shoot problems while managing the impact of perception and visual processing. Your skills in accuracy\, manipulation\, and mechanics will be incorporated into each iteration.  \n \nEQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS \n\n\nNote-taking material \n\n\nEye and ear protection \n\n\nA reliable mid- or full-size pistol with or w/out optics (loaners MAY be available with enough notice) \n\n\nAppropriate holster\, mag pouches\, and belt; \n\n\n3 plus magazines \n\n\nTen (10) quality dummy rounds for your handgun\, caliber appropriate \n\n\nIf using optics\, an extra battery and the tool to adjust\, change it \n\n\nPlease bring your lunch\, Scooby snacks\, caffeine\, and—of course—water. We will break\, but the less time we devote to lunch\, the more time we can spend with your mind and pistol.  \n\n\nAppropriate range attire for the environment\, weather conditions \n\n\nAmmunition: 250 rounds of reliable pistol ammunition \n\n\n \nCOST \n\n\n$250 plus range fees of $30 due at signin \n\n\n \nSCHEDULE \n\n\n9am – 6pm
